Wave 7

*     Questionnaires in wave 3 and 4 come in 3 versions. In the English questionnaires the 3 versions were put together in 1 file. In these questionnaires it will be clear when a group of questions is for group A, B, or C.

**    Questionnaires in wave 6 and 7 come in 2 versions. In the English questionnaires the 2 versions were put together in 1 file. In these questionnaires it will be clear when a group of questions is for group 1 (sample 1993), or group 2 (sample 1997).

***  The data in this codebook are weighted using the weight variables in the data files. The codebooks for the other waves are made without weighting the data first.

**** These files are very large and are therefore packed using WinZip®.

Finally, there are some other files that might be of interest when studying the RUSSET data. These are presented in table 3. All files are again in Adobe’s pdf format.

Table 3: Miscellaneous files

Trend report

Trend report [html]*

This report contains the distributions and means of all variables measured across the 7 waves of the panel.

Variable report

This is a list of all(most) of the questions that are measured in the panel study. It comes in handy when you are searching for a specific variable. And also if you want to see what the name of a specific variable is across the waves.

Profession codes report

The respondents have been asked to supply the type of work they do. This information is coded using this codebook, and that ‘new’ variable is available in the data. The codes are based upon ISCO88 classification.

Weighting procedure

There are weight variables available in the datasets. In this document a short explanation of the weighting procedures is given.

* This file contains hyperlinks to the trend tables from the contents, which comes in handy when you don't want to print all of it. However, the file is quite large, so it is packed using WinZip®.
